Wim Crum, managing director of Damen Marine Services, is quick to explain the basis of the relationship between his company and Double D Marine Equipment, that has lasted for more than a decade already. Damen Marine Services B.V. is a company within the Damen Shipyards Group and has its office in Hardinxveld-Giessendam in the Netherlands. Chartering workboats is a Damen activity, which dates back to the early 1960's and consequently formed the Marine Service Division in 1974. A wide range of tugs, workboats and marine units are available to serve clients all over the globe. The company’s units are employed in various tasks and are involved in the various operations, such as providing assistance to dredging, civil engineering and offshore sites (a Damen Marine Services B.V. speciality), port towage and berthing assistance, barge handling and towing, movements of maritime structures (objects), maintenance of windmill parks , anchor handling, crew transport, survey work, ploughing and salvage. The company operates from Europe, the Middle East and the Far East.

Additional product features
Crum is pleased with the extra accessories that come with the delivery of Double D cranes. He especially admires the remote control units, that are developed internally at Double D. According to Crum, the remote controls can easily be tuned to different cranes without the help of the manufacturer. In case of a defect in one of the rc’s, this again saves him costly time that can be used to help his clients instead.
